Custom remodel commenced in the fall of 2011 and completed in 10 weeks. Similar remodels of this size could require 6 months duration or longer, but Sherman Homes’ scheduling and management expertise allowed the timeline to shorten, meeting the needs of the client.
Situated on the Northeast bench of the Wasatch, the original home was built near the turn of the century. Juxtapose Design’s vision for the home included retaining original elements while updated the home with an Art Nouveau theme throughout. “New Art” architectural style emerged in Europe between 1890 and 1910 and is seen as the bridge between old and new architectural periods. The arched glass and steel entry canopy, arched detail of the custom cabinets, glass and steel arched wine room door, fireplace mantel, and custom master backsplash are design elements integrating this theme throughout.
Sherman Homes managed the design-build process in a timely manner, coordinating with designers, vendors, and suppliers to complete an extensive remodel. A portion of the scope included: original floors exposed and refinished; custom French doors with insulated glass matching the home’s original leaded glass windows replaced the solarium; radiant tubing was installed under the heated patio walks. Original leaded windows which had been painted shut over the years were restored to operable condition.
